Brother St. Paul Miki was born in 1564 AD and died in 1597 AD at Nishizaka Hill, as one of the 26 martyrs of Nagasaki. He passed near this church when he was taken from Kyoto to Nagasaki. Sumiyoshi Catholic Church devotes itself to God as he did.
